NCTE Charlotte Huck and Orbis Pictus Awards Announcement

November 20, 2016 by Mary Ann Cappiello   2 comments

e-k-maIt is always wonderful to be at the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) annual conference, and this year was no different. We are particularly grateful that Erika and Mary Ann had the opportunity to serve on two book award committees: the Charlotte Huck Award for Outstanding Fiction for Children and the Orbis Pictus Award for Outstanding Nonfiction for Children.

We are pleased to announce that Jason Reynolds’s novel Ghost won the Huck Award and Melissa Sweet’s chapter-length picture book biography of E.B. White, Some Writer! won the Orbis Pictus Award. Below is a list of links to the award-winning, honor books, and recommended titles that we have already written about this year on The Classroom Bookshelf.
